Ernie Haase and Signature Sound Participate In National Day of Prayer Observances in Nation's Capital

Washington, DC (5-4-06) -- Gospel music's award-winning group, Ernie Haase and Signature Sound, performed at two of the Washington, DC events commemorating the 55th annual observance of the National Day of Prayer today. The five members of Signature Sound attended a White House breakfast event at 8:30 a.m., as did President Bush and members of his cabinet, along with Mrs. Shirley Dobson, chairman of the 2006 National Day of Prayer.

Signature Sound performed at a morning event at the Pentagon and later at the Cannon House Office Building, earning standing ovations for their two songs, "I Pledge Allegiance" and "Glory To God In The Highest." Among the speakers for the events were Mrs. Dobson, Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao and several Congressmen. Members of the House and Senate were among those in attendance. Ernie Haase, founder of the group that recently released their first project on Bill Gaither's Gaither Music Group label, remarked, "We are very humbled to be included in such a wonderful event which was commemorated not only in Washington, DC, but across our country today. The President said the greatest thing we could do for him is to pray for him, and each of the guys in Signature Sound left resolved to lift both President and Mrs. Bush up in prayer at every opportunity."

Established in 1952 and proclaimed by President Bush and the governors of all 50 states, the National Day of Prayer, whose 2006 theme was America, Honor God, is held the first Thursday in May each year. Author and pastor, Henry Blackaby, served as honorary chairman of the National Day of Prayer Task Force.
